Louis Hébert

1575 - 1627

Louis Hébert, who was a good friend of Samuel de Champlain, was the first settler and moved with his wife and three children in 1617. Besides Champlain, Louis was the only one to cultivate his lands without any animal help. In 1621, his daughter Guillemette married Guillaume Couillard, direct descendent to the Auberge Place d’Armes owners, the Couillard-Doré family.
